Formerly Dadiangas, the city was renamed in 1965, in honour of General Paulino Santos who, with accompanying Christian Visayas, and tagalogs, established a settlement here 1939, Prior to this time, the area was inhabited mostly by Maguindanao Muslims and B'laan tribespeople. The city's history is showcased in two small museums: at the Notre Dame Dadiangas University (NDDU) is a museum of memorabilia about General Paulino Santos and the Mindanao State University(MSU) campus near the airport is a museum of Muslim and Tribal culture. Both are open during school hours. A fast-growing city, General Santos is the centre of big-tuna fishing and canning industry (Seven of the 12 canneries in the Philippines are based here).

    Kalilangan Festival
    The Kalilangan Festival is the second biggest General Santos festival that has been celebrated for
    almost two decades. The kalilangan festival commemorates the foundation of this bustling city and
    it is an event organized by the local government in collaboration. During the festival there are several
    presentations prepared by the residents from different towns that showcase the history of General
    Santos from the time the first settlers arrived. The kalilangan festival also has several contest for
    local community which includes dancing and singing competitions. Some of the best talents are
    discovered right here at this General Santos festival. After a day filled with a beautiful firework
    displays light the sky, grand closing of the festival.

    Gensan Pride

    Tribes
    Blaan people are the original inhabitants of General Santos, and traces of their early settlement of the area are found in the city's place names, which are derived from their vocabulary. Their name
    for the city, Dadiangas is from thorny Ziziphus spina-christi, tree that was once abundant in the area and is now a protected species under Republic Act 8371 or the Indigenous Peoples Right Act of 
    2007. The Blaan tribe presently lives alongside the city's new  generation of settlers and other immigrants.

    AROUND GENERAL SANTOS
    There are white-sand beaches and areas for good snorkelling and diving around Maasim and Glan on the edge of Sarangani Bay. Take an Hiace Van from Bula-ong terminal to either town(P100.00 one hour). Further south are Sarangani island, Balut Island, Ulanbani Island, presently develop for tourism and food dive spots. It might be possible to climb Mt. Matutum in either two or three days, and camp at the top. In march 2002 trekking up the mountain was discontinued due to the extremely
    dry weather caused by the El NiƱo phenomenon, but if you're interested in doing the climb.

    Zamboanga Del Sur is a province of the Philippines located in the western part of Mindanao and is in the Zamboanga Peninsula. Zamboanga del Sur is occupying the southern section of the Zamboanga 54" to 1230 40' east and latitude 70 22'to 80 20' north.     In Busay Diplo Resort, Busay means (Water fall), there are three big landscape swimming pools, an have little falls in see you a clear crystal water well enjoying to frolic in water. They are have little bridge the one way to reach the resort. Before I going to Pagadian, visited my friend and he one recommended me to visit, diplo is small village in Kumalarang, but it give powerful experience with visit this place small places municipalities in Zamboanga del sur.

     In Pagadian, in particular there are beaches and islands that  will make one believe that there is such a thing as a secluded paradise on earth. A nice place to start would be the Dao Dao island that to island hopping by boating either to dive and swim.

     up for the distance. This beautiful island is uninhabited
